We rely on a few trusted services to operate efficiently:
Podia – website & course hosting, email delivery
Loops – email delivery for Finnish Me: Speak students
Vercel – front-end hosting and deployment for the Finnish Me: Speak app
Render – back-end hosting and deployment for the Finnish Me: Speak app
Supabase – database and authentication services
GitHub – secure code repository and development collaboration
Anthropic – AI conversation processing within the app
ElevenLabs – speech-to-text and text-to-speech processing
Google API – translation-related functionality within the app
Stripe and PayPal – payment processing (both PCI-DSS compliant)
Google Analytics – site analytics (IP anonymised)
These services process your data only as needed to provide their functions and under strict confidentiality obligations.
Third-party providers involved in speech recognition, AI response generation, or text-to-speech processing officially claim that they do not use your data to train or improve their models based on your input.
Student recordings in Finnish Me: Speak are never saved to the database, they are processed in-memory for fast transcription and then immediately discarded.
All processing follows standard data protection and security practices in line with GDPR requirements.
13. Use of Voice Recordings and Conversations (Finnish Me: Speak)
When you use the speaking features of the Finnish Me: Speak platform, your voice input is processed to provide real-time speech recognition and responses within the app. Voice recordings and their transcripts are used solely to make the service function and to support your spoken Finnish practice.
Your conversations and recordings are not used to train artificial intelligence models, and they are not shared for training, marketing, or commercial purposes. No third parties use your data to improve their AI systems based on your input.
Access to your data
Access to conversation transcripts and recordings is strictly limited. Only:
the course creator (Lotta Pirttimaa), and
the technical developer working on the platform
may access conversation data, and only when necessary for troubleshooting, bug fixing, or improving platform stability.
Your conversations are never reviewed for educational assessment, monitoring, or marketing purposes. No other students, third parties, or external reviewers have access to your chats or recordings.
Data retention
To minimise data storage and protect your privacy, all voice recordings and conversation transcripts are deleted from the platform database once per month. This means your spoken conversations are not stored long-term.
Basic account data (such as your email address and course access status) is retained only for as long as necessary to provide the service and comply with legal obligations.
AI and privacy reassurance
Your spoken conversations are private. Except in the case described in 'Access to your data', no human listens to your recordings, and your voice or text input is never used to train AI systems. All processing follows standard data protection and security practices in line with GDPR requirements.
14. Children’s Privacy
Our services are not intended for individuals under the age of 16.
We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under this age.
15. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If we make significant changes, we’ll notify you by email or within the course app.
The latest version will always be available in the Finnish Me: Speak app and on our website.
